Analyze the origin of oxygen atoms in CO₂ during aerobic respiration:

In the process of aerobic respiration, glucose first undergoes glycolysis in the cytoplasm to produce pyruvate. Then, pyruvate enters the mitochondria. During pyruvate oxidation and the citric - acid cycle, pyruvate and water are involved in reactions to produce CO₂. So, the oxygen atoms in CO₂ come from glucose (since pyruvate is derived from glucose) and water.
