Nate is Ellie's older brother. One afternoon they are walking home from school in the snow. The temperature had dropped below freezing and the wind had started blowing hard. Ellie was so cold. Nate was dressed more suitably for the weather than Ellie. He took off his jacket and offered it to her. She gratefully accepted. Nate is now colder, but he's glad Ellie is warm.
