In a position-time graph, the slope of the graph at any point represents the velocity of the object at that instant. A positive - valued slope indicates motion in the positive direction, and a negative - valued slope indicates motion in the negative direction. Also, if the magnitude of the slope is increasing, the speed of the object is increasing; if the magnitude of the slope is decreasing, the speed of the object is decreasing.
