Elastic potential energy mainly causes the arrow to shoot from the bow. When the bowstring is pulled back, the limbs of the bow bend and store energy due to their elasticity. This stored energy is elastic potential energy.

Elastic potential energy is a type of energy from stretching or compressing something. The energy is stored because of the elastic properties of the material, which tend to return the material to its original shape when the force stretching or compressing it is removed.
