Rational numbers: Numbers that can be written as p/q where p and q are integers. They have terminating or repeating decimal representations.

Irrational numbers: Numbers that cannot be written as p/q, and their decimal representations do not terminate or repeat.

Real numbers: All rational numbers as well as all irrational numbers. They consist of all numbers that exist on the real number line.
