In a food web, an arrow represents the flow of energy or nutrients between different organisms or trophic levels. The arrow typically points from the organism being consumed to the organism that is doing the consuming. It indicates the direction in which the energy or nutrients are transferred.

For example, in a simple food web consisting of plants, herbivores, and carnivores, the arrow would point from the plants to the herbivores, indicating that the herbivores obtain their energy by consuming plants.
